L.E.G.I.O.N.P.O.D.Cast Episode 24 – Lyrissa’s Even Worse Day

Murray, Paul and Al look at L.E.G.I.O.N. ’90 #21.
If you thought Lyrissa had a bad day before, this issue bumps it up a notch… cuz Lyrissa reveals herself to be… a folk singer.
All this and Dox reveals a soft side and the Beks (and the Eye) take the offensive against Mr. Starr in their inimitable fashion.

  1. Hi guys
Too bad about Lyrissa. How are we going to keep up with the rolling news of who is Planetary Champion now?

If you are fans of Richard Piers Rayner, you should check out the Doctor Who graphic novel “Evening’s Empire”. It was supposed to be in black and white and serialised in Doctor Who Magazine in 1991 (so Sylvester McCoy is the Doctor in it) but only part one was published before Rayner’s part 2 art was mangled in the post and returned to sender months later! So the strip was abandoned.
It was completed, coloured and published in a special in 1993 and finally published in the intended black and white in a graphic novel in 2016.
Although some pages of original art had gone missing (again!) so instead of repurposing colour pages from the 1993 Special, Rayner redrew seven pages from scratch! You get a very strange mix of 1991 and 2016 Rayner.

  2. I second Murray’s reaction here: Lyrissa actually dying came like a hammer blow. I was looking forward to Lydia being deprogrammed and mother and daughter building a relationship…I thought that was the arc we were setting up! Imagine my surprise. This issue was definitely a turning point for the series, which I had already been enjoying, because it’s such a massive game changer. You know, coming out of this, nothing will ever be the same.
