L.E.G.I.O.N.P.O.D.Cast Episode 26 – I, Durlan

Murray, Paul and Al take a look at the first issue of L.E.G.I.O.N. ’91 (which is also issue #23) and it’s a spotlight on… the Durlan. That’s right. He’s been gone from the book for almost two years, but the dude gets a spotlight! And what a spotlight it is! All this, and the team says goodbye to a planetary champion (In case you didn’t know, Lyrissa was the Planetary Champion of Talok VIII).

  1. Hi all
Want more info about Richard Piers Rayner? I was browsing through issue 2 of Comics Scene Magazine from May 2019 last night and it just happened to have a feature about him and his favourite work – the 16 years, from 2000 to 2016, he spent as the artist in residence at his beloved Middlesborough Football Club.
As well as illustrating scenes from recent games, he serialised a history of the club in match programmes.

  2. This was a great episode and it’s wonderful to finally have some idea what happened to the Durlan (and a little more backstory of his and Vril’s relationship). But one thing bugs me: what debt is he supposedly repaying, and how? Are we now saying that the entire LoSH was founded in Vril Dox II’s honor?

  3. WAIT. A. MINUTE. I can’t believe I’m only just now twigging this, but: if the Durlans are a notoriously xenophobic species, neither leaving their world or welcoming outsiders, how is it every Durlan we ever meet can turn into so many different critters? I mean, The Durlan of this story had just left his planet, but knew exactly what creature to turn into to best survive the crash of his ship on Colu. How?
