Brent and Derek are joined by Adam the Computer from the Legion Outpost podcast as they cover the final issue of Legion of 3 Worlds. And they need all the help they can get as the three Legion teams are helped by even more variants. Will they defeat Primetrapper? Will Conner and Bart join the fray? Where are the missing Legionnaires? Which Legionnaires will survive and which will be changed forever (or at least until the next reboot)? It’s been so good to revisit Legion of Three World. I even bought the new Deluxe Edition for the occasion.
I started thinking about the mysterious untold previous meeting of the three teams and the apparent continuity discrepancies in the images.
First the originals. We know Star Boy gets his new uniform here, which first appeared in Superboy 199. But Saturn Girl is shown in her original costume which she swapped for the bikini in Action Comics 392. This is not an error because Star Boy made zero appearances between Action 385 and Superboy 199. So the window for this Legion is between Action 385 and 392.
The Reboot Legion is more difficult as it shows Brainiac 5.1 alongside the original Kid Quantum. This is even more complicated by the fact that Brainy didn’t even join the team until after Belt Boy’s’s death. We could assume then that Brainiac 5.1 needed to recruit a version of the team that didn’t know him or that for some reason, this Kid Quantum’s particular time-stasis powers were needed for this multiversal mission.
As for the Threeboot. No similar continuity issues here, but the lack of Invisible Kid suggests this team comes from somewhere prior to issue 1 of their series.
