We learned at New York ComicCon 2025 that Joshua Williamson will write a new Legion book.
But what Legion?
Mark Waid had previously said a new Legion book is coming, and fans will be happy no matter which version of the Legion is their favorite. When we saw the “Legion Lost” survivors in Superman 29, including a Threeboot Legionnaire, this got us talking.
Who might have survived? What if they came from a bunch of Legions past?
Adam Crouch, from The Legion Outpost podcast, and I thought, “What fun it might be to play editor and pick our own Legion!”
Michael from the Legion of Substitute Podcasters, Derek from Tomorrow’s Heroes Today and Dave from The Legion Outpost join us to represent a cross-section of fan opinions. This veritable Legion of Legion Podcasters join together for a special crossover recruitment episode. We recruit a version of all the Legionnaires who appeared in multiple versions and then a few each who are unique to their version. We share our choices and our opinions.

Obviously I’ve got to play. I’m doing this after only listening to the intro, so I’m not influenced by your choices.
So I’m limiting this to only 25 members because we don’t want them to pay tax, right?

Cosmic Boy (threeboot – a solid leader that is willing to walk a very fine and murky line to keep the team working)
Saturn Girl (Original, ‘iron-butt’ Imra who would not want to make moral compromises like Rokk3)
Lightning Lad (Proty version, obviously- not a fan of hot-tempered, trying to look cool, Garth)
Invisible Kid (sneaky spy reboot Lyle)
Chameleon Boy (5YL experienced businessman and knows he’s Brande’s son)
Micro Lad (threeboot – love the concept of the natural giant with the power to shrink)
Violet (5YL – Liked the grizzled war veteran Vi)
Duplicate Damsel (retroboot. Why limit her to 3 bodies?)
Inferno (SW6 – self serving and shallow but surprisingly compassionate when the chips are down)
Ultra Boy (reboot. I like the fact that he finally married his Tinya)
Phantom Girl (Reboot Apparition with the old name. I like the dynamic with her politician mother)
Light Lass (the way more powerful threeboot version but keep her relationship with Vi from 5YL)
Brainiac 5 (Threeboot – eat it Grandpa! But give him reboot Koko)
Polar Boy (retroboot – the guy deserves more respect than being shoved back into the Subs)
Wildfire (the original and best Drake Burroughs)
Dawnstar (original but resolve the relationship with Drake one way or the other – it got boring)
Valor (5YL – time-lost 20th century legend. Much prefer this version to Superboy’s “big brother”)
Dream Girl (Baxter era – apparently shallow but highly intelligent)
Matter Eater Lad (Trust him – he’s a Senator)
Sensor Girl (Baxter era costume)-
Ferro Lad (SW6 reckless daredevil)
XS (every team needs a speedster)
Gates (who doesn’t love Gates?)
Gold Lantern (but I’d like him to be revealed as Rond Vidar)
And my all time favourite Legionnaire: The one and only Quislet! (What fun!)
This thing about the Legion recruiting Supergirl. Did they get Supergirl first and then realise that their missions were too dangerous for a girl?
And if the new team recruits Prime, should they have Arm Fall Off Boy on standby just in case?
