Episode 282 – Revisiting the Conclusion of Legion of Three Worlds

Journey back four years ago, to just after Legion of Three Worlds #5 came out, or, as some have called it “Legion of Three Years”. It was the day before Paul became a dad for the first time, and a couple of weeks before Scott shook off his reservist status, and became a full member of the Subs. Listen to the speculation, with full benefit of hindsight as to what actually happened, and figure out where we were close, and when we were so far off target.

  1. As pretty as Legion of Three Worlds was to look at, and as cool as it was to have cameos of almost everyone related to the Legion’s long history represented, the series was ultimately disappointing. I was left wondering why it took so many Legionnaires to make one Teen Titans story, and resented that Johns used his big @$$ Legion story to bring back Kon-El and Impulse. I like those characters, too, but surely he could have found a more appropriate venue to bring them gack to life?

Geoff Johns has written pretty much every book in the DCU he’s ever wanted to write. He gets points for bringing back the connection between teen-aged Clark Kent and the Legion, but I have to take those points away for Flashpoint, which altered the LSH’s background yet again. He and Brian Michael Bendis both need a time-out.
