It’s because the first Post-Crisis appearance of Superboy, and thus the first appearance that has to be the Pocket Universe version rather than Earth-1-past was in Legion of Super-Heroes 23.
What am I reading at the moment? First off, a big thank you to Paul. After your recommendation recently, I picked up The Atlantis Chronicles in a Comixology Sale over Christmas and thought it was thing of beauty. Brilliant writing and amazing artwork. And I have only ever regarded Aquaman as a watered-down (sorry!) decaf Sub-Mariner.

The story of a young footballer joining his local team and fighting against corrupt management and agents armed only with a sense of fair play that would make Mr Terrific seem underhanded! It began last year and comes out as three graphic novels plus three prose novels each ‘season’. I am eagerly awaiting the pair of book 2 and GN 2 for the 2019/20 season. Despite not having any particular love for spectator sports (or playing them for that matter!) I was a regular reader of the original Roy of the Rovers strip that ran under various titles from 1954 to 2001 which, in not exactly real time, saw Roy develop from apprentice to first-team to captain to player-manager to manager and finally owner of his club, Melchester Rovers. Sports-Adventure type comics seem to be a particularly British phenomenon of the 20th Century comics field that lowly died off in the 1990s. It’s very daring of Rebellion to try to revive it and they are, thankfully, aiming it at younger readers not us crumbly nostalgia buffs. https://musiciselementary.com/2024/03/07/gtwkwo9 (Though we are nicely being catered for too as they are beginning quite a comprehensive reprint programme of classic comics of the 60s and 70s.
