  1. Hi guys.
Nice coverage of L.E.G.I.O.N. issue 1 (I’m really going to have to create a text replacement shortcut for that title).
I’m glad to see some background on Colu here as I was reading all those post-Crisis Brainiac stories over in the Super titles. I feel that here I was finally getting to see the other side of the story.
I want to echo the Dick Giordano love expressed in this episode. I always felt, seeing his name anywhere in the credits was some hallmark of quality. If HE was choosing to sep out from behind his management desk to do some inking (or pencilling) it was going to be for good reason!
And that Batman story was extremely good reason. I first read this story in the old Batman Greatest Stories trade in the 80s and it lived up to the accolade. I strongly recommend the Batman by Alan Brennert collection. It’s amazing work.

As for this issue’s artist. I want to take issue with something you said in the last episode about this being early Barry Kitson work. As any UK comic fan could tell you, Barry Kitson was pretty well established by this time. I first noticed him as a ‘name to watch out for’ on a back-up strip in the 1985 Captain Britain series. Around that time he was also working on 2000AD including Judge Dredd material (with Alan Grant) and early issues of the UK Transformers comic.
I guess when you noted that Karen Berger was L.E.G.I.O.N. editor (yay, my auto text replacement works!) it all made sense. She was renowned for nicking our best and brightest!
    Cheers all
